Street Sweeping
Hyrum City prioritizes sweeping of City streets with attention to sensitive areas based on the street function, traffic volume, impact on water quality and the environment, and the welfare of citizens in the community. In accordance with Hyrum City's Street Sweeping Policy, City streets with curb and gutter are swept once a year and roads without curb and gutter are swept as needed, based on personnel and equipment availability.
Street sweeping is conducted to improve the cleanliness, health and safety of the City. Street sweepers remove debris from our streets to prevent it from entering our storm drains. Storm drains lead to rivers and lakes and are meant for rainwater only.
Hyrum City's street sweeper is not designed to pick up large pieces, piles, or wet debris.
Here's how you can improve the cleanliness of your street:
- Avoid piling leaves or other debris in the street or gutter
- Properly dispose of litter, keeping it out of gutters
- Don’t rake, blow or sweep leaves or other debris into the street or gutter
- Keep long twigs and branches out of the street or gutter. Street sweepers have difficulty removing this type of debris
- Never pour oil, antifreeze or any other hazardous materials in the street, gutter, or on the ground
Did you know that it is illegal to place or store any debris in the street or gutter? Please help us to make sure that “only rain goes down the drain!” If you see anyone dumping into the storm drain (streets, gutters, and ditches), please call our hotline at (435) 245-6033.
