FULL TIME WASTEWATER SUPERINTENDENT
Hyrum City is currently accepting resumes for a full time Wastewater Superintendent. Mandatory current possession of a Utah Wastewater Treatment Level III or IV Certification; and a Utah Collection System Certification Level II. Should have five years of experience as a Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator (previous membrane experience is preferred) and/or have a four-year Civil Engineering Degree; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of this job. Must have a Utah Driver’s License preferably a CDL.
Responsible for the supervision of the treatment of effluent wastewater in compliance with standards and regulations. Performs a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of the treatment plant and collection system. Complies and submits required Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and State reports. Formulates and implements departments budget. Exercises a high level of discretion with making decisions and requires very little direct guidance from superiors.
This position is a field working Superintendent and requires attention to detail, strong mechanical skills with basic electrical experience. Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes, industrial pretreatment concepts, and safety of employees. Computer skills with the ability to know, comprehend and enforce written policies, ordinances, and laws. Must be able to read and understand utility construction drawings, plans, electrical schematics, maps, charts, etc. Requires ability to perform moderately heavy physical manual labor frequently lifting up to 100 pounds. Must be able to twist, kneel, and bend for associated tasks performed in the field. Requires climbing down into manholes and working around raw sewage with exposure to certain chemicals commonly used in the treatment of wastewater.
Upon employment employee must reside in Hyrum City or no further than ten miles from city limits. Starting salary range is $67,000 to $82,000 per year with full time benefits (health, dental, and life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, and retirement).
