Park Maintenance Worker

Hyrum City is seeking a full time Parks Maintenance Worker. Responsibilities include operating light equipment such as mowers, trimmers, tractors, snowblowers, and various hand tools; performs general landscaping and garden duties such as mowing lawns, planting flowers and trees, trimming grass; assists in installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems; performs general building maintenance and construction of small buildings; and
assists with snow removal during winter months.

Candidates must have considerable knowledge and experience with operating and maintenance of mowers, trimmers, chainsaws, tractors, and hand tools. Working knowledge of application practices for herbicides and pesticides. Basic skills in mechanics, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry; and must be able to lift 50 pounds with frequent lifting of 10 to 25 pounds.

Work Schedule:
Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with some overtime and emergency call
outs.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent and four years of experience in themaintenance, upkeep, and beautification of turf, parks, facilities, and related matters; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess a valid Utah State Driver’s License.
  • Be able to obtain certification as an applicator of herbicides and pesticides through the State of Utah.
  • Certified Playground Safety Inspector is preferred.
